Discover more about Brandalm

Brandalm is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience steeped in tradition and surrounded by breathtaking natural beauty. Located at almost 1,600 meters above sea level in the heart of the Ramsau am Dachstein alpine pasture region, this idyllic mountain hut offers panoramic views of the Dachstein massif and the Schladminger Tauern. The Brandalm has been family-owned for generations, with a focus on preserving tradition and folk music. In 1980, Fritz Schrempf built a smaller Almhütte, and since then, it has been renovated and expanded, with the most recent large-scale renovation in 2007. In 2012, ownership passed to his son Philipp Schrempf. The family also built the Dachstein Kircherl, a small chapel inaugurated in 2014, which hosts weddings, christenings and other festivities. Visitors can enjoy traditional Austrian dishes made with local ingredients on the sun terrace or warm up inside by the ceramic stove while listening to folk music. The Brandalm is easily accessible via several hiking trails, making it a popular destination for all ages. In winter, it's a favorite stop for skiers, snowshoers and winter hikers. Near the Brandalm, visitors can find the Dachstein church and a mountaineering memorial, commemorating mountaineers who lost their lives in the Dachstein region since 1879.
