From Hallstatt, take a ferry across Lake Hallstatt to Obertraun. Ferries depart regularly from the Hallstatt ferry terminal. Upon arrival in Obertraun, walk approximately 15 minutes to the Gletscherbahn station, following the clearly marked signs. Ferry fare: approximately €3-5. A local bus service also connects Obertraun to the Dachstein valley. Bus fare: approximately €2-4. From the bus stop, it's a short walk to the Gletscherbahn.
Driving

From Obertraun, drive towards the Dachstein valley. Follow the Dachsteinstraße (toll road) to the Gletscherbahn. The road is well-maintained and offers scenic views. Parking is available near the Gletscherbahn station. Toll fee for Dachsteinstraße: approximately €12-15. Parking fee: approximately €5 per day.
Walking

From the center of Obertraun, follow the signs towards the Gletscherbahn. The walk is approximately 20-30 minutes and offers views of the surrounding landscape. The path is mostly flat and well-maintained. No costs involved.
