The Sondl-Alm is a charming, traditional alpine inn located in the scenic Untertal valley near Schladming, Austria. This family-run establishment has a rich history, dating back to 1930 when Heinrich and Josefa Ackerl purchased the Niederalm and renamed it Sondl-Alm. Since 1985, the alm has been a welcoming retreat for visitors. Today, the Sondl-Alm is managed by the third generation, Petra, who continues to uphold the inn's traditions and hospitality.The Sondl-Alm is renowned for its idyllic setting and authentic alpine atmosphere. Situated away from the main road, the alm offers a peaceful escape into nature. The inn is particularly popular among hikers and cross-country skiers, as it is located directly on the Wilde Wasser hiking trail and the Kristallloipe cross-country ski track. These trails provide easy access to the stunning natural beauty of the Untertal valley, making the Sondl-Alm an ideal base for outdoor adventures.During both summer and winter seasons, the Sondl-Alm welcomes guests with warm hospitality and traditional Styrian cuisine. The inn is celebrated for its hearty meals cooked on a wood-fired stove, including warm dishes, snacks, and homemade pastries. Among the specialties are Spagatkrapfen, a local deep-fried sweet treat. On request, guests can also enjoy spare ribs, Fleischkrapfen, and roast pork. The inn features a cozy dining area with 25 seats, as well as a terrace with additional seating during the summer months. A children's playground ensures that families have a safe and entertaining space to relax.The Untertal valley, where the Sondl-Alm is located, offers a wide range of activities for visitors. The Wilde Wasser trail showcases the area's stunning waterfalls, streams, and alpine landscapes.
