Car
If you're traveling by car, start from the center of Sölden. Head east on the B186 road towards Vent. After approximately 15 minutes, you will reach the parking area for the cable car station at Gaislachkogl. Parking here may incur a fee of around €5-€10 for the day, depending on the season. From the parking lot, take the Gaislachkogl cable car up to the mountain station.
Cable Car
Once you arrive at the Gaislachkogl mountain station, you will be at an altitude of about 2,600 meters. Follow the signs leading to the hiking trails towards Königsjoch. The trail is well-marked and offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. The hike to Königsjoch takes approximately 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your pace. Ensure you are wearing appropriate hiking gear and have water with you.
Public Transportation
For those opting for public transport, take the Ötztalbahn train to Sölden station. From the train station, you can catch the local bus (Bus number 4194) that runs to the Gaislachkogl cable car station. The bus ride takes about 10-15 minutes. Be sure to check the bus schedule in advance, as services may be limited depending on the time of year.
Hiking
After taking the cable car to Gaislachkogl, begin your hike towards Königsjoch. The trail is moderate in difficulty and offers breathtaking views. Follow the marked path until you reach Königsjoch, where you can enjoy a picnic or simply take in the spectacular scenery. Ensure you allow sufficient time to return to the cable car station before its last operating time.
