Getting there

Walking

From the Gaislachkogl Gondola middle station, follow the well-marked hiking trail for approximately 45 minutes to Hühnersteign. The path offers scenic views of the Ötztal Alps. Alternatively, from Hochsölden, take the Panorama Trail for about 45 minutes to reach the hut. No costs are associated with walking.

Public Transport

Take the bus from Sölden to the Gletscherstraße toll station. From there, it's a short, approximately 3-minute walk to Hühnersteign. Bus tickets within the Ötztal Valley cost approximately €4. Check the VVT (Verkehrsverbund Tirol) route planner for the most up-to-date schedules and fares.

Taxi

From the center of Sölden, a taxi to Hühnersteign will cost approximately €20-€30. The ride takes about 10-15 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions. Taxis are readily available in Sölden.

Driving

From Sölden, drive towards the glacier road (Gletscherstraße). Pass through the hamlet of Grünwald and continue along the forest path to the road leading to Hochsölden. Follow signs to the Gampe Alm junction, then continue south across the Gampe Alm to the marked path leading to Hühnersteign. Be aware that parking is limited. Parking at nearby locations costs around €6 per day. There may be a toll to use the Gletscherstraße.

The menu features hearty dishes like bacon dumplings and Kaiserschmarren, all made with fresh, local ingredients.During winter, Hühnersteign's location on the ski slope and near the glacier road makes it an ideal rest stop. Visitors can warm up, refuel, and enjoy the beautiful mountain views from the sun terrace. The hut also provides a unique setting for special occasions and celebrations, accommodating up to 120 people.
