Getting there

Car

If you're driving from any location in Thermenregion, you can easily reach Dürnstein Castle by taking the B3 road. From Baden, head north on the B3 for approximately 30 km until you reach Dürnstein. Look for signs directing you to Dürnstein, and follow the local road signs to the castle. There is parking available in the town of Dürnstein, but be aware that parking fees may apply, typically around €5 for the day.

Public Transportation

To get to Dürnstein Castle using public transport, take a train from Baden to Krems an der Donau. Trains run frequently; check schedules on the ÖBB website or app. Once in Krems, transfer to bus number 720 or 721 towards Dürnstein. The bus ride takes about 20 minutes. After disembarking at the Dürnstein stop, it’s a short walk (about 10 minutes) uphill to the castle. Be sure to check the bus schedule for return trips, as services may vary.

Walking

If you are already in Dürnstein, the castle is accessible by foot. From the town center, follow the marked hiking paths leading up to the castle.
