Getting There

  • Public Transport

    From Vienna, take a train to Wiener Neustadt. From there, take another train to Pernitz-Muggendorf. From the Pernitz-Muggendorf train station, you can take a bus (number 7844 or 332) to Muggendorf. The bus stop is a short walk to the entrance of Myrafälle. A single bus fare is approximately €3-5. The total cost will be approximately 20 Euro.

  • Walking

    From the village center of Muggendorf, follow the signs towards Myrafälle. The walk is approximately 300 meters north of the village. The path is well-marked and easy to navigate.

  • Car

    The easiest way to reach the waterfalls is by car. Take the motorway A2, exit Wöllersdorf, and use the B21 to Pernitz and further to Muggendorf. Parking is available near the entrance. Parking locations are up to 10 minutes away from the entrance. There is a parking lot about 300 meters north of Muggendorf.

The Myra Waterfalls (Myrafälle) are a captivating natural attraction nestled in the Vienna Alps near Muggendorf, Lower Austria. The falls cascade down a series of rocky steps along the Myra River, creating numerous smaller waterfalls and pools. The total height of the waterfalls is approximately 125 meters, with the longest single drop being about 5 meters. The Myra River originates from the Myralucke, a spring at the foot of the Unterberg mountain, fed by an underground lake. The ravine through which the falls flow is approximately 600 meters long and is protected as a natural monument. A well-maintained hiking trail with wooden bridges and staircases allows visitors to explore the gorge and enjoy the stunning views. The Austrian Tourist Club constructed the original trail in 1885. Visitors can explore the area's industrial past and learn how hydropower was generated. The falls are typically open from early spring to late autumn, with extended hours and illuminations on weekends during the summer months.
