Schönbornpark, a verdant escape in Vienna's Josefstadt, offers a blend of history and recreation. Once the private garden of Palais Schönborn, commissioned by Friedrich Karl von Schönborn in the early 18th century, the land was acquired by the city in 1862 and opened to the public.The park's layout has evolved over time, most notably with the addition of a bunker during World War II. Today, Schönbornpark provides diverse spaces for relaxation and activity. Children can enjoy three playgrounds, including one atop the former bunker. Sports enthusiasts can utilize the basketball and beach volleyball courts. Those seeking tranquility can relax on sunbeds or stroll through the grounds, perhaps stopping for coffee at Café Hildebrandt.Several features within the park are protected as historical monuments, including the wall, a fountain, and the WC-pavilion designed by Wilhelm Beetz in 1903.
