Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Public Transport
From Bratislava city center, the most convenient way to reach Devín Castle is by bus. Take bus number 29 from the 'Most SNP' bus stop, located under the UFO bridge. The bus ride takes approximately 20 minutes, and the 'Hrad Devín' stop is the final stop. Purchase a 30-minute ticket (approximately €0.90) from a yellow ticket machine before boarding, as there are no ticket machines at the Devín Castle bus stop. From the bus stop, it's a short, signposted walk to the castle entrance.
Walking
For those interested in hiking, take bus 83 to the 'Zatevna' stop. From there, walk for about 10 minutes to the old church and follow the yellow-marked hiking path. The hike to Devín Castle takes approximately two hours, offering scenic views along the way. Be sure to wear appropriate footwear and bring water.
Driving
If driving, head towards Devín (Muránska Street). A large, free parking lot is available below the castle, at the intersection of Muránska and Slovienska streets. From the parking lot, walk towards the Hradná brána hotel and then take the asphalt path on the right leading up to the castle.
