    Discover more about Schloss Hof

Schloss Hof, located in the Marchfeld region near the Slovakian border, is a sprawling baroque estate that once belonged to Prince Eugene of Savoy and later Empress Maria Theresa. This magnificent palace, with its extensive gardens and idyllic estate farm, offers visitors a fascinating glimpse into the lives of Austrian royalty. Prince Eugene, a renowned military strategist, purchased Schloss Hof in 1725 and transformed it into a lavish hunting lodge. He commissioned architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to expand the palace in the baroque style, creating a fitting retreat for someone of his stature. In 1755, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the estate and further remodeled it into the largest rural palace and estate in the Habsburg Monarchy. Today, visitors can explore the palace's elaborately decorated staterooms, stroll through the meticulously maintained baroque gardens with their sculptures and fountains, and visit the estate farm, home to a variety of animals. The estate also hosts special exhibitions and events throughout the year, making it a destination for the whole family. Schloss Hof is more than just a palace; it's a journey back in time to experience the grandeur and elegance of the Austrian Baroque era.
