Public Transport
If you're near Stephansplatz, take the U1 subway line towards Reumannplatz. Get off at the very next stop, Karlsplatz. From Karlsplatz, you can transfer to the U2 line towards Stadion. Ride for one stop and get off at the stop called 'Bundestheater'. Once you exit the station, follow the signs toward the Hofburg Palace. Heldenplatz is directly in front of the Hofburg.

If you are in the Innere Stadt area (the city center), you can easily walk to Heldenplatz. From Stephansplatz, head west on Graben, which will turn into Kohlmarkt.
