Stadtwanderweg 3, also known as the Hameau City Hiking Trail, provides an accessible and enjoyable hiking experience within Vienna's city limits. The well-marked trail begins at the terminal stop of Tram 43 in Neuwaldegg, located in the district of Hernals. From there, the path meanders through the picturesque Schwarzenbergpark, originally an English landscape garden, offering a serene environment with its lush meadows and ponds.As you leave the park, the trail ascends towards the Hameau, a 464-meter high wooded hilltop. This area, once known as Holländerdörfl (Little Dutch Village), was established in the 18th century by Count Lacy, who built 17 Dutch-style houses for his guests. Today, the Hameau offers a tranquil escape into nature.The trail continues past the Dreimarkstein, marking the boundary between the districts of Döbling, Hernals, and Weidling. Along the route, hikers can find Gasthäuser (traditional restaurants) for refreshments. The entire Stadtwanderweg 3 covers a distance of approximately 10.5 kilometers and takes around 3 to 4 hours to complete, offering a moderate and refreshing hike suitable for a wide range of fitness levels.
