Born in 1888, Schönecker's association with Rapid began in 1906. In 1910, at the young age of 22, he took on the roles of coach and Sektionsleiter (section manager), a decision that would alter the course of the club's history. Schönecker's impact was immediate and transformative. He rebuilt the team around young players, fostering a culture of discipline, innovation, and unwavering commitment. Under his guidance, Rapid achieved remarkable success, winning numerous Austrian championships and establishing itself as a dominant force in European football. The bronze statue, created by sculptor Thomas Rydval, captures Schönecker's commanding presence.
