In the 1960s, the area around Lobkowitzbrücke was redesigned as part of the planning for Vienna's western entrance (A1). The Otto Wagner-designed Stadtbahn station was dismantled, and the Wien River was covered for approximately 150 meters. This expansion created a traffic hub that opened to the public on November 18, 1969. Today, Lobkowitzbrücke is integrated into a bustling urban environment, with the Meidling Hauptstraße U-Bahn station (U4 and U6 lines) and various bus lines converging nearby, making it a significant public transport hub.
