Walking
From the Dürnstein P2 car park or bus stop, walk through the underpass into the old town. After passing through the Kremser Tor gate, turn right towards Burgruine Dürnstein, following signs for 20 minutes. This path, known as the Eselsteig (Donkey Trail), ascends steadily, offering views of the Danube and Dürnstein Abbey. Continue past the castle ruins to reach the start of the Vogelbergsteig trail, located at the west end of Dürnstein. No cost for walking.
Public Transport
From Krems, take bus 715 to Dürnstein. The bus departs from Krems Stadtpark and arrives at Dürnstein Parkplatz P2 hourly. Alternatively, take the Wachaubahn train from Krems to Dürnstein-Oberloiben. From the Dürnstein P2 car park or bus stop, walk through the underpass into the old town.
