The road leading up to the castle is accessible by car and bus. There are sufficient parking spaces in front of the castle ruin. Parking fees may apply.

To reach Burgruine Aggstein via public transport, take a train to Melk or Krems. From either station, take VOR bus line 720 to Aggstein. From Krems, the bus ride takes approximately 3 hours. From Melk, take the bus line 715 to Groisbach Bundesstraße, which takes about 12 minutes. From the Aggstein bus stop, follow the signs to the castle, which is about a 15-minute walk uphill. Bus tickets cost between €3-€11.
