Public Transport
From Zwettl, the nearest major town, take bus line 735 or 736 towards Rappottenstein. Get off at the 'Rappottenstein Ortsmitte' stop, which is in the center of the village. From there, it's a short, signposted walk (approximately 15 minutes) uphill to Burg Rappottenstein. A single bus fare from Zwettl to Rappottenstein costs approximately €3-5. Driving
From Zwettl, follow the B38 towards Groß Gerungs, then take the L71 towards Rappottenstein. As you approach Rappottenstein, follow the signs to Burg Rappottenstein. Parking is available near the castle entrance and is free of charge. Be aware that parking can be limited during peak season. The drive from Zwettl to Rappottenstein takes approximately 20 minutes.
Walking
If you are already in the village of Rappottenstein, follow the signs uphill towards the castle. The walk takes about 15 minutes from the village center and offers scenic views of the surrounding area. Alternatively, follow the Teddy Bärentrail, a bear trail marked with bear paws, which is about 6 km long and runs through the forest.
