    Schloss Pöggstall, also known as Schloss Rogendorf, is a captivating castle with a history spanning centuries. Originally built as a water castle in the 13th century, it underwent expansions in the 15th and 16th centuries. The castle's ownership changed hands numerous times, each owner leaving their mark on its appearance. From 1795 to 1919, it belonged to the Habsburgs before being acquired by the Republic of Austria in 1986. Following extensive restoration, Schloss Pöggstall has been returned to its original splendor. Architectural historians consider the castle a unique cultural gem, noting the concentrated efforts to incorporate modern architectural approaches over the centuries. The inner courtyard and arcades showcase Renaissance elements, while the stone spiral staircase and Renaissance portal are particularly noteworthy. The roundel, a circular bastion, served as the castle's outer ward, demonstrating the complex's historical significance. The castle houses the Museum of Legal History, featuring a collection of objects assembled by jurist Hans Liebl. The museum also features Austria's only original torture chamber dating back to 1593.
