Driving
The most convenient way to reach Lichtenfels Castle is by car. From the town of Zwettl, follow the B38 towards Rastenfeld. Continue on the B38 until you see signs for Friedersbach. Turn towards Friedersbach and follow the road to Camping Lichtenfels (Friedersbach 69, 3533 Friedersbach). The castle ruins are located adjacent to the campground. Parking is available onsite, but might be limited during peak season. Parking is free.
Public Transport
While reaching Lichtenfels Castle directly by public transport can be challenging, you can take a bus from Zwettl to Friedersbach Gemeindehaus. From there, it's approximately a 30-minute walk (2.5km) to Camping Lichtenfels and the castle ruins. Check the VOR (Verkehrsverbund Ost-Region) website for bus schedules and fare information. A single bus fare from Zwettl to Friedersbach is approximately €3-€5.
