Crowning the Tulbinger Kogel, the highest point in the Tulln district, the Leopold Figl Warte stands as a beacon of history and natural beauty. At 494 meters, this observation tower offers visitors panoramic views that stretch across the Tullnerfeld towards the majestic Alps and the winding Danube River. The original wooden tower, erected in 1897, was felled during World War II. In 1967, a new tower, constructed of reinforced concrete, was built on the same site. This structure was dedicated to Leopold Figl, the first Federal Chancellor of Austria after the war, recognizing his pivotal role in the country's reconstruction. Designed by Austrian architect Clemens Holzmeister, the tower's design blends seamlessly with the surrounding landscape.Visitors can reach the Leopold Figl Warte via a pleasant ten-minute walk from the Berghotel Tulbingerkogel through a serene forest. The well-maintained path is accessible for all ages and fitness levels. From the top, the views extend north over the Tullnerfeld and, on clear days, south to the Alps. The vista is especially captivating during sunrise and sunset.
