    Discover more about Schloss Poysbrunn

Nestled southwest of Poysbrunn in Lower Austria, Schloss Poysbrunn is a testament to centuries of history and architectural evolution. First documented in 1360, the castle's south tract retains its original medieval core. In 1571, it came into the possession of Freiherr Hans von Trautson, whose son transformed it into a four-winged Renaissance complex around 1600. Further modifications occurred throughout the 16th and 17th centuries, with additional stories added in the 18th century. Following the Trautson family, the castle passed to the Auersperg family and later to Freiherr Johann von Bartenstein in 1799. Today, Schloss Poysbrunn is privately owned and serves as a venue for events and celebrations. The three-story structure is nestled within a walled park, featuring a rectangular courtyard, farm buildings, and a chapel. Remnants of a defensive moat can still be seen. The castle's facade, with stone-framed windows and gable roofs, was restored in 1979/80. Since 2006, Schloss Poysbrunn has been home to the annual Niederösterreichischer Märchensommer, a theatrical event that brings fairytales to life within the castle grounds. The castle also hosts weddings, corporate events and private celebrations. The picturesque gardens provide space for recreation, enhancing its visual appeal.
