    Discover more about Schloss Rabensburg

Schloss Rabensburg, nestled in the charming town of Rabensburg, Lower Austria, is a historical treasure with origins tracing back to the 11th century. The first stone structures replaced wooden fortifications around 1200, marking it as one of the region's oldest landmarks. The castle's architecture evolved through different eras. A 16th-century tower features a late Gothic spiral staircase, while Renaissance arches adorn the courtyard. Although the grand ballroom's stucco ceiling is lost, the castle retains its timeless elegance. The Liechtenstein family acquired the castle in 1385, transforming it into the center of a dominion encompassing 25 villages by the 15th century. Maximilian of Liechtenstein made it his primary residence in 1633. Despite a Swedish attack in 1645, the castle slowly declined as the family moved elsewhere. In the 18th century, it housed high-ranking officials. After 1848, it became a parquet flooring factory, resulting in the loss of frescoes and architectural elements. The Liechtenstein family reacquired it before it was sold in 1991 to Dipl. Ing. Günter Kucharovits. Today, the estate is under historical preservation.
