From the parking area, Ahornsee is a short, scenic hike. Parking at the Ahornbahn valley station costs €3.00 for the day for Ahorn- or Penkenbahn guests; validate tickets at the cash desks or ticket machines until 5:00 p.m.

From Mayrhofen's central bus station, take a bus towards the Ahornbahn lift station. The bus ride takes approximately 10 minutes. From the Ahornbahn lift station, take the lift up the mountain. After getting off the lift, follow the marked trails to Ahornsee, about a 20-minute walk. Bus fares within Mayrhofen are typically around €2-3.
