Discover more about Philharmonic Fountain

The Philharmonic Fountain, also known as the Governor's Garden Fountain, is a stunning centerpiece in Baku, Azerbaijan. More than a mere water feature, it reflects Baku's vibrant history and artistic spirit. Constructed in the early 20th century during an architectural renaissance, the fountain's design harmoniously blends European and Azerbaijani influences. Its intricate sculptures and elegant lines showcase the era's artistic sensibilities. The fountain is located within the Philharmonic Garden, also known as Governor's Park, established in 1830. Legend says that ship captains returning from Iran brought back sacks of soil to cultivate the garden's greenery. Over the years, the garden expanded, becoming a beloved green space. In 2007, a gothic-style fountain designed by the French company Inter Art was added as the park's central attraction. The Philharmonic Fountain has witnessed significant historical events, silently observing Baku's transformation from an oil town to a modern metropolis. The surrounding park offers a tranquil respite from the bustling city. Classical music is played in the garden, and rose bushes from Turkey and Italy are planted next to the trees. The fountain is a popular gathering place for locals and tourists.
