Qaranohur, an alpine lake also known as 'Black Lake,' resides within Azerbaijan's Ismayilli district, approximately 8 km northeast of Ismayilli city. Situated at 1,540 meters above sea level, the lake is part of the Shahdag National Park. Its name originates from the Azerbaijani words 'qara' (black) and 'nohur' (lake, water reservoir), owing to its high mineral content, which renders it unsuitable for agriculture.The lake's high altitude and mountain surroundings create a tranquil environment, attracting those seeking respite in nature. The most common route starts from Talistan village, involving a 5-6 km hike through varied landscapes.Qaranohur offers different beauties in all four seasons. In winter, the lake's surface freezes, creating a glistening expanse of ice.
