    From central Baku, a taxi or ride-sharing service is the most convenient way to reach Absheron National Park. The journey takes approximately 50-60 minutes, depending on traffic. A one-way trip typically costs between 19-25 AZN. Confirm the price with the driver before starting your journey. The ride will take you past the airport and through Zira village before arriving at the park entrance.

  • Public Transport

    For a budget-friendly option, take the bus from Baku to Zira village. From the 28 May station, take the express bus to Heydar Aliyev Airport T1 (approximately 1.5 AZN). From the airport, take a taxi to Absheron National Park, which will cost around 15-20 AZN and take approximately 30 minutes. Alternatively, from Baku city center, you can take a bus to Zira village and then take a taxi to the park entrance. Keep in mind that public transport can take significantly longer than a direct taxi ride.

  • Driving

    If you have a rental car, driving to Absheron National Park is straightforward. From Baku, follow the Airport Road past Heydar Aliyev International Airport and onto the Mardakan Highway. After approximately 5.5 kilometers, bear right and continue for 18 kilometers through Zira village. This route leads directly to the park. Parking is available near the park entrance and is typically free of charge.

Established in 2005 on the foundation of the Absheron State Nature Preserve (originally founded in 1969), the park spans 783 hectares. Its primary goal is to protect the region's endangered flora and fauna while fostering eco-tourism.The park's landscape is characterized by semi-arid steppe and dunes. It is home to over 50 species of birds, making it a haven for birdwatchers. Mammals such as foxes and jackals also inhabit the park. Historically, the park was established to protect gazelles and Caspian seals. While sightings of these animals have become less common, the park remains a peaceful escape offering pristine landscapes and unspoiled beaches.Historically, the Absheron Peninsula served as a crucial stopover for migratory birds connecting Europe and Asia. The park's creation aimed to safeguard this fragile ecosystem. The Absheron Peninsula was also the easternmost point of the Asiatic lion's range in the Caucasus until the 10th century.
