Historically a vital link between regions, it now invites exploration of its rugged peaks, alpine meadows, and diverse flora and fauna.
Opening times, essentials, and a few local tips gathered into one calmer, easier-to-scan planning section.
Driving
The most practical way to reach Betschenagsku Pass is by car. From Yerevan, take the M11 highway southeast towards Yeghegnadzor. Continue onto the M2, then follow signs towards the pass. Be aware that the final stretch involves driving on unpaved, gravel roads, so a vehicle with good clearance is recommended. Parking is available near the pass, but it can be limited during peak season.
Taxi/Ride-Share
Hiring a taxi or ride-share from a major town like Yeghegnadzor is possible, but ensure the driver is familiar with the route and the unpaved road conditions. Negotiate the fare beforehand, as the trip can be lengthy and the road challenging. Expect to pay around 8,000-12,000 AMD for a round trip, including waiting time. Confirm that the driver is willing to wait for you to explore the pass before returning.
Use Betschenagsku Pass as your starting point for nearby food, family ideas, nightlife, and more local discoveries.
