Askeran Fortress, a historical landmark also called Mayraberd, is located in the town of Askeran. The fortress's current structure was built in the 18th century and consists of two sections. The left-bank section features a double line of stone walls.Historical accounts suggest that the site of Askeran Fortress has been strategically significant since the Middle Ages, with an earlier fortress and Armenian village known as Mayraberd existing in the same location.
