Public Transport

From central Baku, the most convenient way to reach Heydar Mosque is by taking the Baku Metro. Take the Red Line to 'Gara Garayev' station. From there, you can take a taxi or bus (e.g., bus number 60 or 95) towards the mosque. The bus ride takes approximately 10-15 minutes. A single metro fare is 0.30 AZN, and the bus fare is also 0.30 AZN.

Heydar Mosque, located in Baku, Azerbaijan, is a modern architectural marvel and the largest mosque in the country and the Caucasus. Opened in 2014, the mosque is named after Heydar Aliyev, the former President of Azerbaijan, and has become a significant symbol of national pride and cultural heritage. The mosque's design blends traditional Shirvan-Absheron architectural style with modern elements. Its facade is made of special stones, and the interior is decorated with marble and wood, featuring verses from the Quran inscribed along the domes. The mosque has four 95-meter-high minarets and large domes, with the main dome reaching 55 meters and a secondary dome at 35 meters. The total area of the mosque is 12,000 square meters, offering a spacious and serene environment for worship and reflection.The mosque can accommodate both Sunni and Shia worshippers, promoting unity and tolerance. Visitors are welcome to explore the mosque's interior and admire its intricate details, including the carpets styled after the famous Sheikh Safi carpet. The surrounding landscape features well-kept gardens and pathways, enhancing the mosque's architectural beauty. The mosque is particularly stunning during sunset, when the light reflects off its white marble facade.
