Princess Sabeeka Park: A Green Oasis in the Heart of Awali

Princess Sabeeka Park, often called the crown jewel of Awali, is a sprawling green space that exemplifies Bahrain's dedication to environmental sustainability and community well-being. Inaugurated in February 2010 by Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the park occupies 43,000 square meters in the heart of Awali, a town originally established for the Bahrain Petroleum Company (BAPCO) employees. The park boasts over 51,000 plants, including 567 palm trees and 342 fruit and ornamental trees, carefully chosen to thrive in the local climate. The gardens are designed in a unique traditional pattern, offering a visually appealing and tranquil environment. A greenhouse cultivates rare plant species, enhancing the park's biodiversity and educational value. Families can enjoy well-maintained playgrounds and open spaces perfect for picnics and outdoor games. The park also houses Dar Al-Nakheel, a model scientific laboratory for renewable energy, offering educational opportunities for students and researchers.
