Public Transport

To reach Al Areen Wildlife Park via public transportation from Zallaq, take Bus 66 towards Al Areen. The bus ride takes approximately 15-20 minutes. Get off at the stop closest to Gulf of Bahrain Road and walk about 1 kilometer to the park entrance. The bus fare is approximately 0.5 BHD.

Al Areen Wildlife Park, established in 1976, stands as a pioneering conservation project in Bahrain, dedicated to preserving endangered Arabian animal species and plants. Spanning over 8 square kilometers, the park is divided into two main sections: a restricted reserve for breeding and conservation, and a public park where visitors can explore the diverse flora and fauna.As you enter Al Areen, you're greeted by an unexpected landscape of lush greenery, meticulously maintained gardens, and sparkling water features that create an oasis in the desert. The park is home to over 100,000 plants and trees, representing both native and exotic species. The animal collection is equally impressive, with over 45 species of mammals, 82 species of birds, and 25 species of flora. Iconic residents include the Arabian oryx, which was once on the brink of extinction and has made a remarkable comeback thanks to dedicated breeding programs. Visitors can also observe Persian gazelles, springboks, impalas, fallow deer, Chapman's zebras, and desert hares in enclosures that mimic their natural habitats. Bus tours, led by knowledgeable guides, provide insights into the animals' origins, behaviors, and conservation status.
