Jidda Island is a small, uninhabited islet in Bahrain, situated to the west of Bahrain Island and just north of Umm an Nasan in the Persian Gulf. This secluded island offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of city life, characterized by its pristine beaches and serene environment. Historically, Jidda Island served as a prison in the 20th century, housing political activists during the 1960s and 1970s. Later, it became the private property of a prime minister and is currently closed to the public. The island features limestone cliffs, and it is believed that some of its rock was used in the construction of the Barbar Temple on Bahrain Island. While the island is uninhabited, it contains a palace, gardens, a helipad, and a mosque. The island is connected to Umm an Nasan by a 1.75 km causeway. Today, Jidda Island remains a place of quiet solitude, offering breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere.
