Beit Al Quran: A Sanctuary of Islamic Art and Knowledge

Beit Al Quran, located in the Al Hoora district of Manama, Bahrain, is more than just a museum; it's a beacon of Islamic culture and a testament to Bahrain's commitment to preserving its heritage. Founded in 1990 by Dr. Abdul Latif Jassim Kanoo, the complex was built to house his growing collection of Quranic manuscripts and Islamic art, and to create a space for research and education. The museum itself is an architectural marvel, blending traditional Islamic design with modern elements. Inside, ten exhibition halls display a diverse collection of Islamic art, including rare Quranic manuscripts dating back to the 7th century. Visitors can explore the evolution of Arabic calligraphy, view Qurans written on unconventional materials like parchment, grains, peas, and rice, and admire artifacts from across the Islamic world. Beit Al Quran also encompasses a mosque, a library with over 50,000 books in Arabic, English, and French, an auditorium, and a madrasa (religious school). The library serves as a hub for scholars, while the auditorium hosts cultural events and seminars. The complex plays a vital role in promoting Islamic arts and culture through education and research.
