Jakob Tower, rising 225 feet above Char Fasson in Bhola, Bangladesh, is a prominent landmark offering stunning panoramic views of the region. Designed by architect Kamruzzaman Liton, the 16-story tower was built to enhance tourism in Bhola, drawing inspiration from the Eiffel Tower. Inaugurated on January 16, 2018, by President Abdul Hamid, the tower can accommodate 500 tourists simultaneously, with each floor holding about 50 people. The tower provides a 360-degree view, allowing visitors to see up to 100 square kilometers, including Char Kukri-Mukri, Tarua Beach, and the Bay of Bengal. High-powered binoculars are installed at the top to enhance the viewing experience. Built on a cast-piling foundation 75 feet below ground, the tower is designed to withstand earthquakes up to magnitude 8. A capsule lift and stairs provide access to the top. Originally, the tower did not have the name Jakob Tower. Former Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, impressed by its design, named it 'Jakob Tower' after Abdullah Al Islam Jakob, a local parliament member. The tower is located next to the Khasmahal Jami Mosque and Fashion Square, adding to the area's attractions. It operates from Saturday to Wednesday, 8 am to 9 pm, with a break from 12:30 pm to 3 pm, and on Thursdays from 9 am to 12:30 pm.
