The Taka Museum, located in Mirpur, Dhaka, is a numismatic museum run by Bangladesh Bank. It offers a fascinating journey through the history of currency in Bangladesh and beyond. The museum's collection includes coins and banknotes from ancient times to the modern era, as well as currencies from different countries around the world. The museum was first established as a Currency Museum in 2009 at the Bangladesh Bank's main building in Motijheel, but it wasn't open to the public. In 2013, it was relocated and formally inaugurated as the Taka Museum at its current location in the Bangladesh Bank Training Academy in Mirpur. The museum aims to preserve and display the history and traditions of currency, making it accessible to all. The Taka Museum's collection includes over 10,100 items, featuring metal and paper currency from Bangladesh's ancient past to the present day. Visitors can explore coins from the Pala, Sena, Gupta, Sultani, Mughal, and British periods. The museum also displays ancient wooden boxes and iron chests used for storing coins, as well as coinage products and traditional ornaments made from coins. Digital technologies, including 3D television and LCD displays, enhance the visitor experience. Visitors can even print souvenir notes with their face on them at the digital kiosk photo booth for a small fee. The museum also displays currencies of different countries of the world.
