Kullapathar Shahid Minar, located in Kasba Upazila of Brahmanbaria district, stands as a poignant reminder of the sacrifices made during Bangladesh's Liberation War in 1971. This memorial site is the final resting place for approximately 50 freedom fighters who bravely fought against the Pakistani army. Among them are recipients of gallantry awards, including two Bir Bikram, one Bir Uttam, and two Bir Pratik, underscoring the immense historical importance of Kullapathar. During the war, Kasba, a frontier upazila, was under Sector 2, making it a strategic location. The close proximity to Agartala in India, where freedom fighters received training, led to repeated attacks by the Pakistani army. After battles, local resident Abdul Karim and his relatives collected the bodies of fallen freedom fighters, providing them with proper burials in their ancestral home. After Abdul Karim and his wife passed away, they were also buried at Kullapathar, further sanctifying the grounds. In 1972, the government initiated efforts to preserve and commemorate the site. Memorials, plaques, and grave walls were constructed, with the names and addresses of the freedom fighters inscribed on each grave. Afforestation projects were implemented to create a serene environment for visitors. Today, Kullapathar Shahid Minar offers a tranquil setting for contemplation and remembrance. Visitors can stroll through the gardens, reflect on the history, and pay their respects to the martyrs.
