Jashore Airport (JSR), located 6 km west of Jashore city, is the primary air gateway to southwestern Bangladesh. It plays a crucial role in connecting the Khulna Division to Dhaka and other parts of the country, facilitating trade, tourism, and regional development. Originally established in 1940 by the Royal Air Force during World War II, the airport served as a strategic airbase. After the war, it transitioned to a base for the Pakistan Air Force, and in 1951, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) began operations, connecting Jashore with major cities. Today, Jashore Airport is operated by the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) and also serves as part of BAF Matiur Rahman Base, a training airfield for the Bangladesh Air Force Academy. The airport features a 2,438-meter asphalt runway and a new terminal building with modern amenities, including check-in counters, luggage scanning, VIP lounges, and car parking. Several airlines operate daily flights to Dhaka, and a weekly flight to Cox's Bazar.
