The Crane Resort: A Historic Gem on Barbados' Southeast Coast
Experience timeless luxury and breathtaking ocean views at The Crane Resort, the Caribbean's oldest continuously operating resort on Barbados' stunning southeast coast.
The Crane Resort, perched on the southeast coast of Barbados in the parish of St. Philip, holds the distinction of being the Caribbean's oldest continuously operating resort, established in 1887. Originally known as Crane Beach Hotel, it quickly became a sought-after hideaway for the world's elite, including the famous American cowboy William Frederick “Buffalo Bill” Cody. The resort's name comes from a commercial port that was on Crane Beach in the 1700s, where a crane was used to load and unload cargo from ships. Today, The Crane seamlessly blends its rich history with modern luxury, offering guests a unique experience. The property spans 40 lush acres and features 252 residences and suites. The original 18 historic rooms are still available, surrounded by newer suites and penthouses. Many rooms feature 19th-century furnishings, high ceilings, hardwood floors, and private balconies with ocean views. The Crane boasts an array of amenities, including five swimming pools, multiple restaurants, a spa, bars, tennis courts, and shops. The resort is also steps away from Crane Beach, known for its pink-tinted sand and considered one of the world's most beautiful beaches. Guests can access the beach via a scenic staircase or a glass-fronted elevator. The resort has expanded over the years to include world-class amenities such as multiple restaurants, bars, tennis courts, and a day spa.
