The Statue of General de Gaulle, located in Dinant, Belgium, stands as a tribute to Charles de Gaulle's early military experience and the historical ties between France and Belgium. Unveiled on August 15, 2014, the 2.5-meter copper statue portrays de Gaulle as a 24-year-old lieutenant, commemorating the centenary of World War I. It was inaugurated by Bernard de Gaulle, the nephew of Charles de Gaulle, and Konrad Adenauer, grandson of the first Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany. The statue invites visitors to reflect on European history and the importance of peace.
