Getting There

• By Car

  If you're traveling by car in the Duchy of Brabant, the Waterloo Battlefield is located at Rte du Lion 1815, 1420 Braine-l'Alleud. Start by entering your current location into your GPS device. Once on the road, you can follow the signs for the N5 highway heading toward Braine-l'Alleud. Take the exit for Braine-l'Alleud and follow the signs for Rte du Lion. The battlefield is approximately 13 km from the center of Brussels, and parking is available on site, usually at no cost.

• By Public Transportation

  To reach the Waterloo Battlefield using public transportation, you can take a train from Brussels Central Station to Braine-l'Alleud. The train ride takes about 30 minutes. Once you arrive at Braine-l'Alleud train station, exit the station and look for bus line 365, which will take you directly to the Waterloo Battlefield. The bus ride is approximately 10 minutes. Make sure to check the bus schedule ahead of time, as there may be limited service on weekends and holidays. A single train ticket costs around €5, and the bus fare is typically around €2.

• Walking from Braine-l'Alleud Station

  If you prefer to walk from Braine-l'Alleud train station to the Waterloo Battlefield, it is about a 30-minute walk (approximately 2.5 km). Exit the station and head southeast on Avenue du Général de Gaulle. Continue straight until you reach Rte du Lion. Turn left, and the battlefield will be on your right. This route is well marked and offers a pleasant walk through the area.
