Het Arsenaal, located in Vlissingen, was a maritime attraction that offered a unique blend of entertainment and education. Housed in a historic building that once served as an artillery warehouse, it drew visitors with its pirate-themed adventures and diverse marine life exhibits. The original Arsenaal was built in 1823 on the foundations of a military hospital planned by Napoleon Bonaparte. The Dutch armed forces later repurposed the site as an artillery warehouse. In 1980, the Ministry of Defense handed the building over to the city of Vlissingen, with the aim of boosting tourism. Het Arsenaal featured a pirate park, a sea aquarium with sharks and rays, and a 65-meter-high lookout tower offering views of Vlissingen and the Westerschelde. Other attractions included a pirate show and a ship simulator.
