Walking
From the Mechelen train station, exit the station towards the main street (Koningin Astridlaan). Turn left and walk straight for about 600 meters until you reach the intersection with the Brusselsesteenweg. Cross over to the other side of the street and continue walking for another 500 meters. You will reach the center of Mechelen. From there, follow the signs to the bus station (Stationstraat). Take bus 1 towards Leuven and disembark at the 'Leuven, Diestsestraat' stop. From there, walk about 300 meters towards the city center, and you will arrive at Oude Markt, which is known for its vibrant atmosphere and is located in the heart of Leuven.

Start at Mechelen train station. Purchase a ticket for Leuven. Board any train heading towards Leuven; the journey takes approximately 15 minutes. Once you arrive at Leuven station, exit the station and head straight down the main street, which is called Diestsevest. Continue walking for about 700 meters until you reach the bustling center of Leuven. Oude Markt is located just off the main square and is a popular spot for locals and tourists alike.

If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from Mechelen to Leuven. Start from the center of Mechelen and head towards the Canal Dessel-Schoten. Follow the cycle path along the canal in the direction of Leuven. The distance is approximately 10 kilometers and will take about 30-40 minutes. Once you arrive in Leuven, follow signs towards the city center, and you will find Oude Markt, a lively square surrounded by cafes and bars.
