Getting There

Walking
If you are starting from the Ostend train station, exit the station and head south on Koningin Astridlaan toward the coast. Continue straight until you reach the beach promenade. At the promenade, turn left and walk along the seafront. You will pass several beach bars and attractions. Continue walking until you reach the end of the beach area, where you will see the Westelijke Strekdam. Follow the path along the dam, and you will find the Nationaal monument voor de zeelieden located at the end of the dam.

Public Transport (Bus)
From the Ostend train station, walk to the nearest bus stop, which is located on Koningin Astridlaan. Take bus number 4 or 6 towards Oosteroever. Get off at the 'Oosteroever' stop. After disembarking, walk towards the water, and you will see the Westelijke Strekdam. Walk along the dam, and you will arrive at the Nationaal monument voor de zeelieden.

Bicycle
If you are renting a bicycle, start at the Ostend city center and head towards the beach. Follow the bike paths along the seafront, and continue biking until you reach the Westelijke Strekdam. There are dedicated bike lanes that lead directly to the dam. Once you reach the dam, you can park your bicycle and walk to the monument, which is located at the end of the dam.
