If you are in the center of Ostend, start at Oosteroever, near the main shopping street, Kapellestraat. Head west towards the beach. Once you reach the beachfront, follow the promenade along the coast. Continue walking until you see the Westelijke Strekdam, which is a long pier extending into the sea. The Nationaal monument voor de zeelieden is located at the end of this pier. Look for the large monument, which is a tribute to sailors, as you approach the end.

If you have access to a bicycle, you can cycle from the Ostend city center. Start at the main square, Wapenplein, and head towards the beach. Take the designated bicycle paths along the promenade. As you cycle, keep to the right and follow the signs leading to the Westelijke Strekdam. You will reach the end of the pier where the Nationaal monument voor de zeelieden is situated. Make sure to park your bike securely at the nearby bike racks.

From the Ostend train station, take bus line 3 or 4 towards Oosteroever. Get off at the 'Westelijke Strekdam' stop. After disembarking, walk straight towards the pier, and you will see the Nationaal monument voor de zeelieden at the end of the Westelijke Strekdam. The walk from the bus stop to the monument is approximately 10 minutes.
