Getting There

  • Bus

    From San Ignacio, head to the local bus terminal located near the central park. Look for buses heading towards Belmopan. The ride will take approximately 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Belmopan bus terminal, exit the terminal and walk towards George Price Highway. You will see signs for Guanacaste National Park. It's about a 20-minute walk from the bus terminal to the park entrance.

    If you prefer biking, you can rent a bicycle from one of the local shops in San Ignacio. Start from the central park and head towards the west along the main road. Follow the signs to Belmopan. The journey is about 12 kilometers and should take about an hour. Once you reach George Price Highway, turn left, and continue for another 5 minutes to reach Guanacaste National Park.

  • Walking

    For those feeling adventurous and fit, walking to Guanacaste National Park is an option. Start at the central park in San Ignacio and head towards the main road leading to Belmopan. It’s a long walk of approximately 12 kilometers, taking around 2 to 3 hours. Follow the road signs to Belmopan, and after about 1.5 hours, you will reach George Price Highway. Turn left and continue on foot for another 15-20 minutes to arrive at the park entrance.
