If you're driving from the main town of San Ignacio, head southeast on the George Price Highway (Hummingbird Highway) towards Belmopan. After approximately 30 minutes, take the exit toward the Western Highway/BZ-1. Continue on the Western Highway for about 1 hour until you reach the junction for the Vaca Plateau Road. Turn left onto Vaca Plateau Road and follow it for approximately 10 miles. After a scenic drive, you'll reach the entrance to Big Rock Falls. Please note that the road can be rough, so a 4WD vehicle is recommended.
Public Transportation (Bus)
From San Ignacio, you can take a local bus towards Belmopan. Look for buses that say 'Belmopan' on the front. The trip takes about 30 minutes and costs around BZ$2.50. Once in Belmopan, transfer to a bus heading towards the Vaca Plateau area. Be sure to confirm with the driver or conductor that they will stop near Big Rock Falls. This second leg of the journey may take another 30-45 minutes and will cost approximately BZ$5.00. Once you reach the closest drop-off point, you may need to walk a short distance to reach the falls.
Taxi
For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from San Ignacio. This option is more costly but provides door-to-door service. The ride to Big Rock Falls typically takes about 45 minutes and costs around BZ$50-$70 depending on negotiation. Ensure to agree on the fare with the driver beforehand.
