Car
If you're driving, take the East-West Highway (National Highway 2) towards Trongsa. From Bumthang, it is approximately a 2-hour drive (around 68 km) west. Follow the signs to Trongsa, and as you approach the town, you'll see the dzong perched on a ridge above the valley. There are parking facilities available near the dzong.
Public Bus
You can take a public bus from Bumthang to Trongsa. Buses usually leave in the morning and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. The bus will drop you off at the Trongsa bus station, which is about a 10-15 minute walk from the dzong. Follow the main road towards the dzong, and look for signs directing you to 'Trongsa Dzong'. Buses may charge a fare of around 100-150 BTN depending on the service.
Taxi
Hiring a local taxi is a convenient way to reach Trongsa. You can arrange for a taxi in Bumthang or any nearby town. The fare can range from 2000 to 3000 BTN for a one-way trip, depending on negotiation and the driver. Taxis can drop you off directly at the dzong entrance.
