Car
If you're driving, start from Paro town and head east on the Paro-Thimphu Highway (NH 2). After approximately 5 km, take the left turn onto the Chagri Dorjeden Monastery Road, which is well-marked. Continue for about 7 km along this road until you reach the monastery. The road is scenic but may be narrow in parts, so drive carefully. There is a parking area available near the monastery.
Taxi
For a more convenient option, you can hire a taxi from Paro town. The fare should be around 500-700 Ngultrum for a round trip. The driver will take you to the monastery entrance, and you can request them to wait while you explore the area. Be sure to negotiate the fare before starting your journey.
Public Transportation
Public buses from Paro town to Thimphu frequently run along the main highway. You can take a bus heading towards Thimphu and get off at the nearest stop to the Chagri Dorjeden Monastery Road intersection. From there, you will need to walk or hitch a ride for the remaining 7 km to the monastery. Keep in mind that public transport may not be the most direct or convenient option.
Walking
For those who are adventurous and fit, you can choose to walk from Paro. The walk is approximately 12 km and will take around 3-4 hours. Follow the main road heading east, and then take the left turn onto Chagri Dorjeden Monastery Road. The hike offers beautiful views of the Paro Valley, but ensure you're prepared with enough supplies and water.
