Car

If you're traveling by car from Pemagatshel to Zuri Dzong, begin your journey by heading west on the main road (East-West Highway) towards the town of Trashigang. After around 2 hours of driving, you will reach the junction where you need to take a left turn towards Paro. Continue on this road for approximately 3 hours until you reach Paro town. Once in Paro, follow signs for Zuri Dzong, which is located on a hill overlooking the town. There is parking available at the base of the hike.

Public Transportation

To reach Zuri Dzong using public transportation, start by taking a local bus from Pemagatshel to Paro. The bus ride will take about 4-5 hours, and you may need to check local schedules for departure times. Once you arrive in Paro, you can either walk or take a taxi to the base of Zuri Dzong. The taxi fare from Paro town to the base of the Dzong is approximately 200-300 Ngultrum. From there, it’s about a 30-minute hike uphill to reach Zuri Dzong.

For a more direct route, consider hiring a taxi from Pemagatshel to Zuri Dzong. This option is more expensive, typically costing around 3,000-4,000 Ngultrum for the round trip. The journey will take about 3-4 hours, and you will be dropped off at the base of the Dzong, from where you will need to hike for about 30 minutes to reach the site.
