Walk
From the center of Punakha, head towards the Punakha Dzong. Once you reach the Dzong, take a moment to enjoy the architecture and the riverside view. From there, walk along the main road towards the east, following the signs that say 'Phajoding' or 'Pumola Trail.' You will pass by several local houses and fields. Continue walking for about 30 minutes until you reach the trailhead leading up to Phajoding Monastery. The trail is marked, and you will see a sign indicating 'Phajoding Monastery' at the entrance.
Hike
Once you arrive at the trailhead, you will begin a hike that takes approximately 1-2 hours, depending on your pace. The trail is well-defined and climbs steadily uphill. Keep an eye out for local flora and fauna along the way. As you ascend, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding valleys. The path is mostly dirt and rocky, so be sure to wear sturdy shoes. Follow the markers along the trail until you reach Phajoding Monastery, which will be situated at the top of the hill.
